Second Annual OpenWorld 2012 Unauthorized BI and Analytics Scoop Session

Dan and Tim kibbutzed their way through what they saw, heard, (and didn’t hear) at Oracle OpenWorld 2012. The session featured Dan and Tim's light-hearted take on Larry's big announcements and what it all means for the real world of Oracle BI, big data, and analytics. Specifically, they discussed: Exadata X3 and other BIG ANNOUNCEMENTS; Oracle Cloud, Cloud formations, and other weather phenomenon; the Buzz on BI and Analytics. You can view this scoop session on our website under the title "Second Annual OpenWorld 2012 Unauthorized BI and Analytics Scoop Session".

Oracle OLAP Data Load Sets World Record

Oracle's Sparc T4-4 system produced world record workload capacity with Oracle's OLAP environment. The cube had a 3 billion row fact table with four dimensions, and it ran 3,500 cube-queries/minute against the OLAP cube with an average response time of .15 seconds. Check out the full blog post on our website.

Test Drive Oracle BI, BI Publisher, and OLAP with AWSAmazon Web Services logo

We teamed up with Amazon Web Services and Oracle Corporation earlier this year to provide the first-ever public site that lets you try three Oracle products free of charge at any time. Oracle Business Intelligence, BI Publisher or OLAP running against Simba each have their own hands-on instances with exercises in each session, designed to specifically highlight the capabilities of each program. You can stick with the program and complete the exercises in an hour, or you can go "off road" and explore the software yourself. No installation is required; only Windows Remote Desktop, which you may already have. You can view the webcast provided jointly by Vlamis and Amazon Web Services, which walks you through how to register for and use Amazon Test Drive.

Amazon Web Services runs many internet websites today. They have the capacity to launch thousands of servers at a moment's notice. As a result, we can bring you a full instance of Oracle software to evaluate and run in minutes rather than waiting days or weeks. Take a test drive at www.vlamis.com/testdrive-registration.

Vlamis at Oracle OpenWorld 2012

Oracle OpenWorld

Thank you to those of you who attended our session at OpenWorld 2012, "Oracle Business Intelligence 11g Data Visualization Best Practices". It was a great success, with over 140 attendees! For those who were unable to attend, you can see the presentation on our website.

Also, for the third year in a row, we co-hosted a BI reception with Simba Technologies (and this year arcplan as well). This is quickly becoming the event at OOW for focusing on Oracle OLAP.

Vlamis Specialized in Oracle BI Foundation 11g

Dan Vlamis, Tim Vlamis, and Brian Terry were among the first people to earn the credential Oracle Business Intelligence Foundation Suite 11g Certified Implementation Specialist. This new test for the 11g release was made available at the Oracle Partner Network Exchange @ OpenWorld conference for the first time. Please join us in congratulating them on their certification.
