Vlamis Test Drives Easier to Use
All three
of Vlamis's Oracle test drives have migrated to the new AWS
Orbitera platform. It's now easier to register and
start up our three test drives: Oracle Big
Data, Oracle Advanced Analytics and OBIEE 11g. The OBIEE 11g Test Drive incorporates the newest version of SampleApp (see article below). With this new interface, you
only need to register once for all of our test drives. As a reminder, all of
our test drives run using Oracle software, giving the user a hands-on
experience, whether through pre-written exercises or open exploration. We
encourage you to register for a test drive and try it out; you'll have your own
private virtual machine with Oracle's latest software at your disposal - no
downloading of software required. There is a lot there, so you'll want to
devote somewhere between 30 minutes and 3 hours to the test drive. We even have
videos to watch that detail the process while you wait for your own private virtual
machine to start up. You connect to your VM via a
browser (BI), Windows Remote Desktop (OAA) or VNC (Big Data).
Vlamis Presenting and Hosting Reception at Oracle OpenWorld
2014
We are honored to
have been selected to present Data
Visualization for Oracle Business Intelligence 11g
at Oracle OpenWorld 2014 being held
September 28-October 2, 2014. We've heard that we will be presenting sometime
on Sunday, but do not have a specific time yet.
Vlamis will
also be hosting a reception on Tuesday, September 30 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
We'll nosh on lamb sliders, hand-made buffalo mozzarella, and whatever else
chef Fendert cooks up while enjoying a craft brew.
This has become THE place to gather to discuss the analytical options to the
Oracle database, the future direction of BI, and other related topics. Come
visit with us, Oracle product managers, customers, and other like-minded
thought leaders. We'd love for you to join us! Let us know if you are going to
be at OpenWorld in any case. Email cgillespie@vlamis.com
to RSVP and to receive an invitation.

OBIEE SampleApp v406 Now Available
The newest version
of SampleApp, v406, has been
released. SampleApp v406's
upgrades include new SampleApp content, a new version
of MapViewer, the MVDemo Samples App, BI Applications
11g, a standalone EPM
Suite, and Oracle Database 12c with pluggable
database installed. See the SampleApp web page for more information, including a
link to the Oracle BI
Tech Demos YouTube Channel. As noted above, our OBIEE
test drive incorporates SampleApp v406,
so if you simply want to try out the new SampleApp,
sign up for a Test Drive to try it out
without having to download the full SampleApp VM. We also use SampeApp heavily
for many of our presentations and for developing the content for our book on
Data Visualization for Oracle BI 11g.
Vlamis Book Data Visualization for Oracle BI 11g
Dan and Tim
Vlamis are almost finished writing their Oracle Press book on Data

tables, graphs, maps, BI Publisher, mobile, advanced visualizations, and
several other topics. Some of the content will be featured in Dan and Tim's
talk at Oracle OpenWorld. Look for more information or preorder a copy from Amazon.
