Conference Update

Collaborate 2015 April 12-16, 2015

Three representatives of Vlamis Software Solutions went to Las Vegas to the Collaborate 2015 conference. Here are some things we learned:
  1. Cloud continues to be a dominant topic at Oracle conferences both in sessions, key note presentations, and on the floor in booths and demonstration grounds.
  2. The word analytics is everywhere, but it’s used differently by different people and in various situations. Vlamis is among the few that straddle the worlds of business intelligence, statistical and predictive analytics (the “Advanced Analytics” option to Oracle database that is comprised of Oracle Data Mining and Oracle R Enterprise), and data warehousing strategy.
  3. Data Visualization, the accurate and useful presentation of data in graphs and charts, is very hot. Oracle has exciting new products in this area. Expect a major focus on data visualization over the next year as Oracle focuses on this topic.

In addition to all this learning, We also had five presentations.

Heartland OUG  May 21, 2015

Vlamis was once again thrilled to be represented at the spring Heartland OUG meeting on May 21 at the lovely Gallup Campus in Omaha, Nebraska. This time we had three presentations:

Kscope 15  June 21-25, 2015

ODTUG's Kscope 15 conference will be held in Hollywood, Florida. Vlamis is pleased to be participating in four presentations.

Data Visualization for OBIEE 11g

Dan and Tim’s new book Data Visualization for Oracle Business Intelligence 11g continues to sell well and garner praise from several different channels. If you have OBIEE or OBIA and know that you need to improve the effectiveness of your dashboards and visualizations, pick up a copy of the book or better yet, call us and schedule a private data visualization workshop for your power users and developers.

Oracle University’s Advanced Analytics Training Classes Fully Subscribed!

Tim spent last week teaching OU’s Oracle Data Mining Techniques class on Tuesday/Wednesday and Oracle R Enterprise Essentials class on Thursday/Friday via Oracle University’s Live Virtual Teach system. While it was challenging to talk to a computer screen rather than a live classroom, Tim had a great time delving into the details of Oracle Advanced Analytics with a great group of attendees. Call us to schedule your own private class. Vlamis is also an Oracle University Partner, so whenever you need guidance on training, give us a shout.
