Enterprise Planning and Budgeting Released
EPB is now officially released. EPB requires Oracle Applications version 11.5.9 or higher, and Oracle OLAP 9.2.05 or higher. You can find more information at http://www.oracle.com/applications/epb.html.
Excel Add-in, OWB Paris in Oracle Magazine
Articles in the November/December issue of Oracle Magazine feature news on "Paris: Next Stop for Oracle Business Intelligence Warehouse Builder" (second article) and "New Excel Add-in for Oracle Database" (fifth article). See http://www.oracle.com/technology/oramag/oracle/04-nov/o64briefs.html for the details. According to the article, "The Oracle Business Intelligence Spreadsheet Add-In will be packaged with the OLAP option of Oracle Database 10g," and confirms that the Spreadsheet Add-in will not cost extra. With these announcements, surely the big BI release including Discoverer "Drake" and BI Beans is not far away. Indeed, other sources point to these products being released around the end of November, 2004, just in time for Oracle OpenWorld.
Oracle OLAP 10.1.0.3A Released
Version 10g adds significant capabilities to Oracle OLAP. Some of these become more apparent with the upcoming releases of Oracle Warehouse Builder and AW Manager 10g (AWM2). In version 10g, users no longer need to manually enable Analytic Workspaces for use with BI Beans. In any case, if you are using 10g, you need to ensure you are using OLAP 10.1.0.3A. This fixes several significant bugs.
Install Patch #3761843 on both the client and server. Be sure to use the matched version of AWM to avoid metadata problems. Then install OLAP Patch #3769360 for Windows or Patch #3865532 for other platforms. Be sure to follow instructions in the readme. If you are using dbms_odm packages, install Patch #3738631. These patches are available at http://metalink.oracle.com (registration required).
